Maintenance And Shoot Weekend 2012

Saturday the 12th of May: The weather was perfect, the equipment was plentiful but the volunteers were few! Never the less, with 4 lawn mowers and one whipper-snipper running, the job was done in 5 hours. The whole area was raked and dead grass disposed of. The Ripley Exercise Base Area is ready and safe for Exercise Western Chill on the 25th of May 2012.

A big Thank You to all those who gave up their morning and came to help out: Sam Fitzgerald and his Dad Michael, Jarred and Andrew Griffin, Rebecca, Greg and Logan Rapkins, Adam Savage and his mum Kate, Aaron, Adam and Anthea Chase-Currier and last but surely not the least the Commanding Officer Trevor Schulze.

Sunday the 13th of May: After a thorough safety briefing by the Commanding Officer, the Unit Range Shoot went as planned and all the cadets had an enjoyable time shooting at the targets. Range Officer Greg Rapkins had his hands full with 12 cadets in two details taking turns to go through the motions.

It was not surprising that Corporal Brandon Marinkovic took out the Top Shot Position again but it was a pleasant surprise to see several other cadets qualify for their Marksmanship Badge. Congratulations to Alyssa Chase-Currier, Matthew Hough, and Alisdair Bell. Once again, Thank You to the Parent Support Group for the sausage sizzle for lunch and to the parents who helped out at the range.

Look our for the photos to come.
